Ancient Egypt Poster Report

Objective: To demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of Ancient Egypt by creating a Poster Report. The poster will demonstrate the students’ understanding of the various aspects of Ancient Egypt, as well as to teach others about what the students’ have learned.

Your Poster Report: Your poster must address the subject and answer the guiding questions on the information page. Your Poster Report must be neat, informative and show evidence of understanding the subject. All writing must be in ink, marker, typewritten or word-processed. NO PENCIL. It must be free of errors. The final poster must be colorful and pleasing to the eye.

Requirements:

1. Number of students and poster size. One or two student may work on a poster. If a student chooses to work alone, then one poster paper may be used. If two students work together, then two poster papers must be used and taped together to create one large poster.
2. Writing. Each subject hand-out has a guiding question at the bottom. This guiding question must be answered throughout the poster. Place the question on the poster. Each student must have at least two paragraphs of writing on the poster. The writing may be typed or written in ink. It must be in the students’ own words and not copied from any other source. Plagiarism is illegal and will result in a grade of “F”. There will be no errors and the writing will be extremely neat. The information will be accurate. The student’s name must be under each section the student writes. Writing may include poetry, interviews, reports, journal entries, eyewitness accounts or other acceptable forms. Poetry is highly recommended.

3. Illustrations.
There should be illustrations and/or charts which support the subject being shared. They will be in color. They may be hand drawn, traced or copied form another source. Clip art and/or pictures from the internet will be accepted. The illustrations must help to explain or teach the subject. All illustrations must have a caption..

4. At Least 8 Facts. Your poster must present at least 8 facts about the subject. Facts must be presented, in writing or illustrations. All facts must be accurate. Students may use information from books, magazines, or the internet. Place a star next to each fact. All facts must be about the subject.

5. Names and period of the poster creators. The names and period of the students who created the poster must be in a corner of the poster . It must be neat and contain both the first and the last name of each student and the period.

Procedure:

1. Decide what each person will do.
Discuss ideas for the poster and what kind of writing each person include.

2. Research and Write.
Read and discuss the guiding questions. You may find information about a topic in the handouts, text book, in other books, in magazines or on the internet. Write down notes and facts about the information you will use for the writings and the poster. Create the writings, charts and illustrations which explain your subject.

3. Create the poster.
Place the writing, illustrations, labels onto the poster. It should be spectacular! You may use colored pencils, markers, scrap paper, or outside materials to enhance the beauty of your poster. Do not use regular pencil! Be extremely neat.

4. Make sure names are on each piece of writing and on the poster itself.

Remember, the poster must be neat, informative and pleasing to the eye. Everyone in the group must participate.
