Objective: To demonstrate an understanding of ancient Egyptian writing by writing their names in Hieroglyphs and then creating their own Egyptian Cartouche.




Creating the Project:

1. Students will write their names in Egyptian Hieroglyphs. See "Social Studies links" for the Hieroglyphs chart.

2. Students will then arrange their Egyptian names into a Cartouche rough draft and decide how they will design the entire page using Egyptian elements.

3.Students will then create the final cartouche, using colored markers or colored pencils.

4. The Cartouche must be neat, accurate, and reflect Egyptian design.

5. Students will place their name, date and period on the back of the Cartouche in ENGLISH.




Assessment: Students will be assessed according to how well the students demonstrate understanding of the basics of Egyptian writing, the neatness and design of their Cartouche, and their effort.
