African Mask Project
Objective: To demonstrate an understanding of West African Art and history by creating an African Mask artwork, which uses symmetry .
Creating the Project:
1. Take two pieces of construction paper of contrasting colors.
2. Using one of the pieces of construction paper, cut the it in half. Cut out eyes, mouth, nose, hair, facial decorations, and face shape, but only from one side of the face. As you cut, move the cut pieces to the opposite side of the face. You should begin to see a mirror image. Glue all the pieces down on the second piece of construction paper.
